Gnarus Advisors Adds Bret C. Cohen to Team
ARLINGTON, Va., March 28, 2011. Gnarus Advisors LLC announced that it has added Bret C. Cohen to its team. Mr. Cohen, an attorney and geologist with over 15 years experience, provides clients with liability evaluation and regulatory expertise in environmental, product liability, and mass torts.
Mr. Cohen joins Gnarus as a Principal & General Counsel. He previously worked at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., and Apex Environmental.
Mr. Cohen has worked on a wide spectrum of transactional, regulatory and risk management issues. He identifies, manages, and mitigates liabilities for clients both in the U.S. and internationally and has worked on over 250 transactions, many valued at over $1 billion. In addition, he helps clients calculate and allocate liabilities, develop sustainability programs, reduce risks through product stewardship, respond to agency inquiries, evaluate legislative matters, and negotiate all varieties of agreements from solar to risk transfers.

In addition to his environmental work, Mr. Cohen has worked extensively in the area of mass tort litigation. He assists clients in valuing asbestos, silica, coal mine dust, welding rod and other toxic tort liability. Mr. Cohen also helps clients manage and reduce mass tort risks and coordinate with insurers, distributors, defense groups and other manufacturers. He has authored articles and presented on silica liability and reducing asbestos liabilities to increase company values.

Mr. Cohen received his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Geology and History from The College of William & Mary.
